I use the pen tool all the time just have to hit option and click a point to change direction of the curve. I going to give poly lasso a try and see how that works out.

WhatEVER!! Don't lead them astray with your own laziness. Poly lasso is for noobs and it's not faster unless you're tracing a square. Learn how to use the fuckin pen tool!!! If it's not tracing the curves the way you want, then you AREN'T USING IT RIGHT.

it's definitely faster to use the pen tool. if you're tracing a square... go with the rectangular marquee.
