Sr20det out of a S14 Question

Post by Loki_LaVey6 »

I found this on ebay and I want to buy it but what is a distinct way I can be assured that it is in fact an S14 engine. I need and idea like a picture the seller could send me, or something along that line.

Also don’t burn me to bad cause I did search all the 240 web sights I could find, and came up with not much but a bunch of smart ass answers.

SR's from S14's and S15's have a slant at the back of the valve cover (like the one you posted), so it is one of those. S13 SR's are completely flat all the way across, like so:

Dude you rock.

Is it worth spending a little extra to get the s14 engine?

you'll get a lot of mixed opinions on that, but i kinda decided it wasn't really worth it for me. the initial advantages of it are a slightly better turbo stock (T28 vs T25) and nissan VVT technology which i've heard sorta helps with torque, but for the extra price you could probably easily afford a turbo upgrade for a 13 motor and end up making more power. some people think they are much better though so you might wanna do a little research on some of the other 240 boards (freshalloy, zilvia, etc.) or let some others on here chime in, but i'm plenty happy with my cheaper 13 motor :).

Well I did it I ordered the S14 sr and a bunch of other stuff on Friday. I got the engine trans ecu and harness from Canada. I also ran across a good deal on LSD and a complete 5 lug swap. I already have the 300zx brakes and rotors so I will be glad to finally get those on. I also had a set of 350 wheels and tires in the garage so I am finally going to get to put all of this on. It will feel like a brand new car but for a lot less money. I will probably be all over the internet trying to figure out the plugs but I guess that will be part of the fun.

Has anyone used the KA MAf for the SR or would it be a waste of time. I have the SR MAF but no plug. So I just thought I would use the KA. I have also considered the 300zx MAF but I just want to get it on the road right now.

Suggestions??

i believe the single cam KA maf is the same as the stock SR maf (at least for the redtops).

^^ i believe so.there might be a slight difference. but when people turbo their KAs, they dont move up to SR Mafs but straight to maxima maf (which is slightly bigger than the KA) or the big daddy, the 300zx one. i dont know about the wiring though.
