More Dirt Drifting-- Summer Rallycross!!

Post by jo »

Well, chattanooga has one back up on their schedule, and I'm also signing up to do one down at Ft. Mede, FL! 2WD cars are allowed to participate in these events, also, so if anyone is interested in getting dirty and practicing some mud drifting, you should get in on this!

August 1st 2004, Soddy Daisy, TN --> Renegade Rally Cross
http://www.rivergate5speed.com/scca/rallycross/

Registration: 8:30-10:00
     Driver's Meeting: 10:30
     FOERST Car Off: about 11:00
$25 if you SHOW a current  SCCA card*
     $30 everyone else
     Online Registration opens July 1
          and closes July 29

I need a codriver for this one! Any takers?

August 14th 2004, Fort Meade, FL --> FMR Summer Sizzler

Welcome to another RallyCross event hosted by Fort Meade RallyCross!  Hosted on private property near historical Fort Meade, Florida, the course offers numerous configurations for challenging runs all in a natural, family-friendly venue.

Track configuration length varies from 1/2 mile up with runs averaging around 1 - 2 minutes.  The land is reclaimed phosphate mining area and offers a mixture of hard-pack, soft loam and sandy soils.  Rocks are minimal and small.

Rob from No Ants has volunteered to codrive this one for me since it's right near his neighborhood.

November 13th 2004, Ft. Meade FL--> FMR presents TURKEYCross!

Same sweet place as above, just a different month! gobble, gobble!

If anyone knows of more rallycross events in the southeast, please let me know! I want to do as many as I can. I totally want to cheese out my car with vinyl/magnets with some crazy rally car graphics but make it all be dM and 507 and stuff like that:)

I don't know about plates and insurance. Down in FL you probably don't because it's private property and not an SCCA event, but in TN you might.

That's one crazy jpeg of the FL rally. Is the one in TN on a Sun? That'd be a great drive from Clemson through the mountains.

My car is no rally car either! But it will be fun I think. There aren't any huge rocks or anything and no jumps, so aside from getting really dirty I don't think it will be too hard on the car. I'm definitely going to have to adjust my suspension a bit, but the fun and mud will make it sooo worth it.

you should do it! 2wd cars do enter, so i'm sure it wont' be a problem. The premise of rallycross is flat, smooth dirt surfaces. So it's a step up from roadrally [since it's dirt] but not quite club or pro rally since there is no jumps and you don't need a prepped car.
