came across these pics on zilvia.net and thought i'd post them...
apparently, ford is jumping onto the drift bandwagon now and sponsoring ken gushi . i don't have any confirmed fats on all of this, but they also said that they'll be paying him 100k a year which is pretty crazy. from the looks of the car, it's somewhat official though.
damn...Tony told me at the civil war that ford was going to go with him or ken... i guess they went with ken. tony also told me that ford wanted to keep the car on the west coast so i guess ken would be the logical choice.
While I knew Ford was getting involved... I didn't know they were going with Gushi! That's way rad for him. Serious money, and a serious car! That thing looks crazy - I can't wait to see that car slideways!
I guess the new Mustang is now the new Mustang!
I hear GM is getting into it as well. Drift Corvette anyone?
*Did anyone else notice that Nikki Zeno (the girl who won the Nopi bikini contest) was posing in those pictures? Hahaha... she said "drifting is not a crime"!

What's the big deal? I think it's awesome that Ford has decided to help push the sport of drifting, and if the new Mustang can compete in the Japanese dominated sport, then why not? Even the Japanese are enthused about seeing American cars drift. I was under the impression that drifting was more about the elegance and skill of the way that the driver handles the car anyway. If that's the case, why does it matter whether it's a Mazda, Nissan, Ford or whatever. I mean c'mon. Andy drifts a BMW. Would he be ripped on if it was an AMW?
Japanese cars are historically constructed better than American cars. Duh. That's why I own one. I also probably wouldn't buy a Ford unless it was a truck, but I don't think they should be written off. I've read good things about the new mustang and I'd love to see American ingenuity finally come around. Is that so bad?
