Yet another new guy here... (pics)

Post by Adrenal-ian »

whats up my name is Ian, I live in north Atlanta and have seen you guys meet around town at circuit city and andretti's before and want to know more about this club! I've found out more and more about driftMechaniks FOERST of all because I actually detailed one of you guy's Lancer Evo's at Sky Wash Detail where I used to work for a few years...lol (it was black and had white OZ rims, with a Carbon fiber hood, and the driftMechaniks tag on the window. But, my friend and I are interested in coming to a meet...we both drive German cars... I have a Porsche 944-S and my friend has a BMW 318i. I am very active on Rennlist.com which is the biggest Porsche forum on the net, and also I'm pretty active in PCA (Porsche club of America) but standing around with 55 year olds wiping their 911's with diapers can get pretty boring after a while.... so I wanted something a little more fun and more active! So, here I am! I actually found the site through one of your members who came to Rennlist because he's interested in 944's: Rhoad Racing is his name. But anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, and maybe throw out a few pics for ya!

Hello Ian, and WELCOME!!!

Your car looks rad, yo! Haha... I drive a german car as well... err, maybe I should say drift a german car, lol! How long have you had your Porsche? The Evo you were speaking of belongs to Hooman... it's very fast! I beleive I met your friend with the BMW out in Alpharetta one Thursday evening. His car looked really good!

We'll definitely have to link up sometime soon. We might be getting together sometime this weekend!

Enjoy your stay here, and keep it slideways!!!

holly shit Ian! I just realized that you have a S. How/where did you find a S for so cheap?! All the ones I've seen have been knocking on the door of $10K

hehe, it was just a REALLY REALLY good find. Basically the guy I bought it from had the car given to him by his brother for debt relief, and had nooooo idea what he had  10k for a 944-S is pretty steep, really steep actually. You should be able to find one as good as mine for 7-8k. At all costs, go for a 16 valver man, its worth it... either S or S2... an S2 is the best of both worlds in my opinion... you got the biggest production 4 cylinder ever made (3 litre) under the hood and more low end torque than a Turbo, and you get the Turbo body kit/brakes/suspension to go along with it

Friday sounds good, I'll be catching a movie with some friends early on but I can meet you anywhere in Alpharetta later in the night

yea...no kidding. great find!
your car is exactly what I'm looking for. The turbo body, etc but more power than the normal 944. But like you said, its $7-8K for one and my budget is going to be around $6K. So I may have to set my sights a little lower. Sucks!..... but oh well.

Well, when me and my pops get the Turbo-S up and running, and boosting correctly (bad wastegate), and braking correctly (bad rotors)... I'll show you some dick power

but unfortuneately, it still sits, as so. begging me to unleash it lol

Ian...what are you thoughts on these two?

here's the N/A

and the Turbo[/QUOTE]

I'm going to SC this Saturday for family, but to also look at them up close and hopefully drive them.

The N/A looks very good cosmetically to me but as the guys on Rennlist said, it has had a headjob, meaning the T-belt has most likely broken on this car. Also, the dealer trade in thing is another thing to be cautious of because dealers usually know nothing about the car so be prepared to badger them to no end for records.

The Turbo, its iffy also. I can't really tell how it is cosmetically with the pic, but again, you're just going to need to look at it very closely before pulling the trigger on the sale. It's not that every cheap car is going to be a lemon (mine certainly wasnt), but its just good to be on the safe side, ya know?
