I wasnt able to get too many other cars from the sidelines. I was only rotated on once to shoot on the track which kinda sucked. Luckily it was during the drift emporium cars lol.
I dont want to sound mean or come across cocky, but honestly what were the event coordinators thinking when they were rotating on a bunch of people with kit lenses to shoot? Dont get me wrong, I'm all for people learning and getting better, but it was getting way out of hand. What a joke... I had my fair share with the kit lens, and its nothing something to be raving about... It seemed like anyone with a camera was considered "media."

I ended up leaving early cause I was tired of waiting. I may have gotten shots of the cars in the FOERST few batches...

lol @ big money photog.

fyi. i paid to get into the event just like everyone else, and i made NADA! last i checked i was still a broke ass college kid.

i guess you dont read much, i said i am all for new photogs learning, but when they are on the track trying to pan at f5.6 on a cloudy day with a 1/50th shutter speed... i dont see it going too well.

not to mention, none of them had spotters. and if someone of you locals know, a photog was hit by a car a few years back because of this. its not even a rant cause i am angry i was on the track the whole time, its for the safety of other people. its all fun in games until shit hits the fan.

thanks,

dear bigmoneyphotographer

so you are complaining about people taking what you think might bad pictures (with no proof?), so you should have been allowed to take more because you take better ones?

p.s. i was the second man to the photographer that got hit and held his scalp together while the ambulance came

lol look man. i just joined this forum, i dont want to start off on the wrong foot.

usually it is pretty difficult to get media credentials. i can count the amount of events ive actually gotten in with media credentials on one hand and still have fingers to spare. i dont do this professionally, as it is just a hobby for me.

since you know matt so well, you should know damn well where i come from.
so you are complaining about people taking what you think might bad pictures (with no proof?), so you should have been allowed to take more because you take better ones?
ive had a kit lens for years. i think i know well enough how it performs. nowhere did i state i should have gotten more "track" time cause my photos are better. i simply wished media was approved before the event, and not everyone with a camera could be allowed on track. having a DSLR doesnt automatically mean you are automatically media. unless you planned and coordinated the event, i dont see why you have your panties all up in a wad. i am not coming at you in any way shape or form.

with that being said. lets see some of your shots if you were there that day with your kit lens. if theyre good, ill shut the hole under my nose. if not, please plug up yours.

this isnt formula d
it used to be about friends taking pictures of other friends cars (damn i sound old)
or just for the fun of being out there on the track
people would want any coverage of their cars
if people want to be out there with point and shoot cameras they should
as long as they are properly trained about being on the track
i agree with you about spotters too
your pictures are really good (better than mine)
youre good at photoshop (better than me)
im a poor college student too
i just dont agree with your attitude about some people deserve to take pics at a grassroots events and others dont

I'm happy when I see pictures of my car :D

I have a lot of respect for the people that take pictures at events.

Personal opinion...

"kit lens" photographers are considered "Media" at events like this because it's a LOCAL PRACTICE EVENT.

If you want to play with the "Big Dogs", go to a big event.

And yes, I AM a big dog. Second generation PROFESSIONAL A/V producer as a matter of fact, & not just a college kid who took some 101 classes, learned how to do some post shoot digital touch-up (I actually really like the HDR-esque effect you used, by the way), and upgraded from "kit lenses". I've been in "the business" for years, put in serious hours in the field, and I think some of the shots coming from the local level are incredible. Check your ego at the door kid. It won't fly around here.

(BTW: If I'm coming off as rude, Fuck Off.)
