DEAD MEAT
How soon is drifting in USA going to DIE DIE DIE?
IT seems like there is nothing but bitching about any type of pro drifting these days.
i LOVE IT.
discuss.

whens pro drifting gonna die. Im cool with fun drifting.
::::: understeer is definitely a crime - Colin McRae
Pro drifting made me hate drifting.
I used to have SO much fun traveling and competing. I never wanted to compete to be #1. I just wanted to compete to be doing it, experience it at a pro level, and step my game up. Towing to Irwindale and back by myself changed my life FOREVER. I loved that shit so much.
End of last year I was leaving events pissed at life, and honestly asking myself why the fuck I was even doing it.
America got greedy... from many angles. Sponsors cut back support to focus support on select drivers. Drivers let shit go to their heads, and start walking all over anyone to get ahead. Shitbags across the board ruin great relationships with sponsors, forever burning bridges for other people... totally tarnishing the sport as a whole.
It is so goddamn frustrating to see everyone that I've been drifting with for over 5 years pull back from pro drifting. I'm talking about people with fucking HEART in the game. Only see a bunch of yahoos in it for a paycheck step in with full rides and big sponsors.
I know it is politics. But you can't take the stench from a corpse.
Its still a corpse.

Yes... open side pipe welded straight to the headers. It was loud and awesome. I totally drove like shit. My car had (still has) zero power. I couldn't link the course all day. I was still scared shitless of 3rd gear. I didn't even care. I was living my dream, and it was the best shit ever.
I miss those days in a way. But in another way... I think most of us in Atlanta are bringing those days back in a "fuck everything... we do this for us" kind of way.

I guess I will truly add to this thread.
I totally agree with Andy's talk about this shit getting to peoples heads. I have lost many friends from back in the good ol' days, due to their now huge egos. I fucking can't wait for the mainstream to just go the fuck away and it just be about friends and having a good time again.
I remember 5 years ago we all gave it a year to survive, damn we could only wish now. I lost all hope of drifting being fun again about a little over a year ago. The over powering egos, stupid bullshit, stupid fucking clicks (what happened to the loving overall support?), backstabbing, scamming, overall fucked up pro series, and stupid fucking high school kids with no respect are some of the main reasons I can't stand drifting in general.
I had a huge long talk with Andy about this once and this is just the shortened version on how I feel.
I can only hope for better days to happen before I fully say "fuck you!" to something that really has been a part of my life for 8 years now.

drifting is a profession now. it's hard work, sacrifice, and stupid. there are too many guys that like to compete in drifting to let pro drifting die. honestly, that's fine with me they keep the aftermarket buzzing. i'll keep drifting with my friends. i only ever worry about drifting with my friends. pro drifting is an excuse to go to road atlanta once a year. i guess i've been lucky and i haven't had to deal with too many egos. i have noticed that most of the new kids have no respect for anything, but that is mostly due to their age.
