Hey I've got a quick question on allowed cages for SCCA and any other event standards. I've got my cage already but it has to go in still, im just wondering according to SCCA's standards am I allowed to MIG it in or does it have to be TIG'ed in? Haven't been able to find any clear answer in searching and figured someone may know offhand on here.
-Thanks,
Zach

welding is welding. as long as its properly done it doesnt matter how you do it. Tig welds are usually prettier and sometimes are the only way to get a good weld on certian materials. But that doesnt mean its superior in every application.
What kinda metal is your cage made of?

yeah i did didn't i
what i mean is that if its mild steel you could gas, stick, mig, tig, etc.... but would Tig benifit you any way over any of these. maybe only if you wanted it pretty. and even then i have seen some very talented welders do some amazing things with gas and mig.

there is no reason to ever use chrome moly for a roll cage.
