SOHC Trans in S14? HELP!!!

Okay, obviously I need to swap bell housings. THAT has become a bitch. I can't get the bellhousing off trans one to break completely loose. I've created a gap b/w the sandwich plate and bell housing, but it won't break loose all the way. I'm following this guide:
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/278158 (even though it's an S14 housing on a single-cam trans.
Also, does it matter which speed sensor I use? My buddy just swapped a dual-cam into his 89 hatchback, and used the dual-cam speed sensor, and it reads WAY high.
I'm on round two with this. I worked on it for HOURS yesterday, reason being: I don't have the luxury of pulling the motor.
If anyone could provide some insight into how to get the bell housing off (WITHOUT pulling the rear cover), that would be AMAZING!!! Thank you!

I appreciate it, but I live in North abalambala, and my primary mode of transportation currently has no trans, clutch, or pressure plate in it right now. If you wanna drop me a line and walk me through it, I'd be EXTREMELY grateful. Otherwise, I don't know what to do.
I can't find my crowbar, and I have 2 flat-head screwdrivers wedged in b/w the sandwich plate and bell housing, and I can't get the bell housing to come off. I've tried beating it and prying and stuff and it just won't come. In the FSM, it says something about pulling a snap-ring. That'd be the smaller one that you have to expand to get off, right?
Thanks,

Yeah, I got it figured out. My idiot friend pulled the wrong snap-ring. Turns out that S13 transmissions hate S14 drive shafts....had to sawzall the dust cover off of it...

What would cause a trans to pop out of like every gear?

Yeah...it's got a pretty wicked leak...

You think that's the problem? Not bad synchros?

low fluid will cause a tranny to do some messed up stuff..also if it's been run low on fluid.. it will be damaged and do that kinda stuff..
synchros usually snick or grind during gear changes.. doesn't throw out on gears as much.

s14 and s13 sensor are different size and read different.
plus you have to grind the s14 sensor down to fit.
sawzall is an awesome tool. i used to ct meat with it and it does the job. goes right thru the bones like a champ.

I think the main problem is the fact that I could NOT get that 20 year old RTV to let go, so I sprayed carb cleaner on it and I didn't think to re-RTV b/w the rear cover and sandwich plate. I think it's going to end up coming off again anyway...the TOB is acting seven, maybe eight different kinds of fucked up. Push the clutch in just a smidge and it starts to whine. Keep going and it drops idle and whines a lot louder. Rev the motor while the clutch is in, and it goes away. It's really quite annoying. I think that the TOB is seized up.

Which sensor(s) are you talking about? I used all my S14 sensors (save for the extra one that the S13 trans has that the S14 does not), including my speed sensor.
Is it true that the gearing is different b/w S13 and S14 transmissions? It might be the new clutch, and pressure plate and flywheel without heat spots...but the car feels a helluva lot quicker.
Thanks for your help guys. By the way...my rubber mallet was plenty large enough once that snap ring was gone.
