....which were sub par, and I ended up driving to Northern Virginia to pick up this '93 240







The bad: Automatic, 135k, Couple of door dings, some scratches, curbed hubcaps (coming off anyway for new wheels/tires), stereo sucks and speakers are blown, tires are dry rotted (again, wheels/tires), a bunch of scuffs, some of which I already clay-barred out, black trim is peeling a bit, and it's leaking some oil (can't figure out from where yet)

The good: 5 speed swap with everything but throwout bearing and clutch pedal for $200, No rust anywhere except a few TINY spots in the paint that I plan on fixing, interior is nice (no cracks in dash, carpet is ok [1 small hole on drivers side], seats are intact, just a little dirty, and everything else is great)

Overall I'm very pleased.

I have a question. What will people wreck once the 240 supply dries up?

I don't plan on wrecking it. It's my dd for now.

Ah penn, it was nothing personal. The comment was a random 'more of the same' reaction. I think you missed my point. All those other 240s you're referring to... that's exactly what I was talking about. It's no secret that there's a mad scramble right now (and has been for some time) for people to buy up 240s and driftitize them. That can only persist for so long.

I was only joking about wrecking them. I didn't mean to imply that you would sooner or later wreck your own. In fact, I would never wish that on anyone. Fuck, I took my Impreza off the side of the Dragon on my FOERST visit when I drove too aggressively on worn tires so I've got no room to talk about people wrecking their shit. But let's be honest, the people buying the 240s aren't exactly collecting them. They're driving the shit out of 'em and a good number of them end up... well...

So don't feel like we're beating up on you. This is a friendly forum where everything is in good fun and all are welcome. Trust me, none of this had anything to do with you personally. The 240 is the new street darling and unfortunately that brings a lot of rif raf with it and the superior AWD people will tend to joke about it from time to time.
