GC8 engine swap Poll

trying to figure the best engine for my GC8 coupe.

1.Ver6 WRX
2.Ver6 STi
3.Ver7 STi
4.Ver8 STi

wont be able to afford the Ver8 for awhile. $8k just for the engine.

Hey Tyler,
I don't know how I missed this thread before...

Give me a run-down of the differences between these motors. I'm not up on my versions enough to know what's what.

for the sti stuff, wouldnt you need to change out the drive train also? i mean the whole 9

andy- overall the Ver7 and the Ver6 are pretty much the same. 280hp/260ft.lb torque. the Ver8, i would choosse the USDM, so 300hp/????dont know but sure you can ask nobody.

marshun-yes, but it's a good thing. a Ver6 Sti TypeRA transmission has a much better gearset than the stock USDM GC8 from what i have read. also there is the Kaaz tranny which i have read has the dogset gears and it can handle up to 400hp i believe

charlie-yeah man, figured i would just buy two. one H22a for the Accord, and the other H22a for my suby. hehehehehe no one will suspect a thing if i turbo the H22a in the suby hehehehehehe. but seriously, still want one for the Accord cuz she is such the sleeper. as for the GC8.....

somebody correct me if i am wrong on any of this.

ok after checking......the Ver7 has 270ft.lb torque, and the Ver7 engine weighs about 30-40lbs more than the Ver6 (complete guesstimation based on the fact that the GC8 weighs about 100 or so lbs more than the GDB). dont know the weight of the trannies though.

if i find more info i'll post it.
