Amazement at the audacity of mankind.

Picture this if you will...
There is a lot... a lot suitable to drift in.
There is a gate to enter this lot.
This lot has been locked up for some time, but recently...
The gate has been open.
nobody and I enter this lot this evening, to get some footage. We definitely overstay our welcome at this undisclosed location. After about an hour (yes... an hour) of drifting... we see a police officer cruise by.
This lot is set back from a main road... you really can't see much of what's going on inside this lot from the road. However nobody and I both saw him. We start to bolt outta there, when I realize: there is only one entrance/exit (where the OPEN gate is)... if he was coming into the lot, it would look better if we were sitting there parked, than if we were trying to flee the scene. SO... we stayed parked in the corner, and a good three minutes went by... and guess who enters??? Johnny Law.
He asked for the usual license/insurance combo, and he said that this lot has a giant steel gate with metal bars prohibiting people from being back here. And he wanted to know why we drove over the grass to get back there. He wanted to know exactly what we were doing.
I tried to assure him that the gate was open when we pulled in, and that we wouldn't drive over the grass to get in there. Long story short... he said that there was nobody back there, and who would come close the gate behind us? Nobody.
For a good five minutes, I was sure we were going to jail. He came back to the car, and said this is private property, and he knows what we were doing back there. He said if we get caught doing it, that we lose our license for 6 months minimum. I tried reassuring him that the gate was open when we pulled in... but he didn't care.
He said that the person who called us in, was very upset that we were back there doing what we were doing. He let us go, and as we drove out... sure enough... the gate WAS closed.
So, whatever chicken-shit bastard called us in... came behind us and closed the gate, therefore making us trespassers for sure.
I'm amazed at the audacity of this coward. We weren't hurting anyone, endangering anyone, doing anything on a public street. We were in a private lot (which has been abandoned), minding our own business.
Thanks, guy... thanks.
