me and a select few people went sliding this past sunday. The diff lasted all of one lap; less than 3mins. :disgust: It blew a hole in the casing the size of a golf ball which looks almost exactly like the diff I blew in Savannah for the SEDA Demo.
After breaking the diff open, we realized that the welder's frequency wasn't high enough so the metal wasn't able to penetrate deep enough. Tim (s13burger) helped me take some small vid clips of the enternals for all of you who wanted to see what it does after a diff pops. I'll try to get it posted as fast as I can.

*Tim if you read this....get ahold of steven. He knows how to upload and host vids.

I know alot of people have a had good luck with welded diffs, but I've had my feel of them. A good diff has just made highest priority on my To Buy list.

that sucks dude, but seriously, you gotta stop fooling around with welded diffs. :(

Damn killa... that is no good! I can't beleive another one went! Give Ray a call at KAAZ and see what he can do. He is awesome, and always loves to help out. I can PM you his number if you need it.

wow, consistency at it's finest.

you really need a high AMP arc welder to properly weld a diff. i honestly don't know how they get any of them to hold up using a MIG like that.

I'm not sure what kinda diff I'm going to get yet. There's a company that makes electronic locking diffs for american cars. I'm going to give them a call/email to see what they can do with a 240 diff. If they are able to produce one, I'll be able to completely lock (like a welded) and unlock my diff by the push of a button. For those of you who were at SFS:3, Kieren's fox body mustang had one that worked flawlessly::

If that doesn't pan out...I may just go with a j30 until I can invest in a better one; perhaps a Type X clutch type.

We'll see what happens, but Andy if you'll PM me Ray's number I would greatly appreciate it. I'll be sure to give you a reference.
