I figured it was only a matter of time and last night one of my friends got thrown in jail for drifting. I dont know the exact charges but im sure its not good. It could have easily been me, as its the spot we hit every night. Anyway I figured it was only a matter of time as this shits risky on the streets.
Beware everyone cause this wont be the last time someone on hear gets busted for drifting .
Find out what they were charged with! I know some damn good lawyers that are VERY good with this sort of thing. There may be no grounds for charges other than tresspassing if he was in a private parking lot. And even then they should ask you to leave if there are no posted signs. Let us know what happens!
I hope the charges aren't bad. Was it in a lot, or on the street?
You say its a spot you hit nightly?
I always try not to create any sorts of patterns as to when/where I go out.
If someone hears me in the same spots at the same times...
I'm liable to get nailed.
Did they spend the night in jail? Or was it just an arrest?
And he got arrested for this!?!?!?!?! That's bullshit!! Police officers cannot charge you with traffic offenses on private property. It's not legal. If it was then they would be arresting people weekly at race tracks across the country. IF it's private property. If the road in the park is a public road, he's screwed. Either way this pisses me off. Damn nazis!
That sucks, we need to get some legal practice events setup. It sucks going to jail for something that honestly doesn't hurt anyone. Cops need to go do some real police work; like stand on roofs of Krispi Kremes or something..
goddamn that sucked man, i hope he got out of it ok. My friend his boss owns a shop in a industry part of SoCal and so the parking lot is pravite, but he lets us use it for testing out new suspenion parts after hours like 8 and beyond. Its a awesome thing and I haven't heard the cops bust them yet. Also its only like 5 cars when were playing around, not a huge crowd.
yea, we definately need some legal stuff soon. it sucks so much hearing about this happening to a bunch of people i know (not necessarily arrested for drifting in particular, but similair stuff). hopefully DGtrials will have something together in ATL soon, we really need it.
I'm pretty sure trespassing is the only thing they can get you for and if there are not any signs then they really can't do anything to you the FOERST time. Possibly it's if the owner cannot not be contacted then they bring you in?
Also need to know what the "right-of-way" is on the adjoining street...if it's a 50' r/w and you get within 25' of the centerline then you are no longer on private property. Larger roads have 100' r/w's and smaller ones are normally 30-50' or so.
Officers/Public should be happy people are learning how to control a car, unlike most of them that will never know. Every 16 year old should be required so many hours on a skidpad before getting their license (so many hours of control, not just being on it)....If you can't control a sliding/skidding car then you should never be allowed on the streets.
yea it was me unfortunately...and yes it sucked ass!!! 13hrs in jail really sucks. i actually asked the officer shouldn't i have just received a ticket and he said "if i was busy yes but i'm not busy tonight so i'm taking you to jail". i was ok with everything until he told me that crap!!! what really sucks is that i got a ticket like 3 days earlier for 84 in 55 so i'm basically in some deep crap. i don't know what the hell i'm gonna do except to beg for mercy. cobb co judges don't play and if they wanted to they can really screw me. i received 2 tickets for this...one for laying drag and the other for reckless driving. and the cop wrote a note on each ticket saying that i had a passenger in the car. i will be talking to some local cops i know for some advice and any from you guys will be appriciated. oh and becareful out there!!! watch your ass!!!
