some of the WDC events are scheduled at the same time as Formula d, like the Atlanta events are on the same day. bad planning by the WDC folk? i'd say so

Good lord I need to move to Cali.

Out of curiosity... how come Falken and DTC aren't running any of the WDC? Because of the conflicting dates?

No

I work for Discount Tire Co (actually Discount Tire Direct) http://www.tires.com

We sponsor this car

Last year Calvin Wan drove the car to 4th in Formula D points standings

This year Hubert Young is driving for us

Hubert Young
Born and Raised in Hong Kong, Hubert Young moved to Northern California in 1994. No stranger to drifting, Hubert competed in the innagural US D1 in his Skyline R32 GT-R. He now pilots his Falken Tires, Hot Import Nights and Hot Wheels sponsored S14 built by Motorsports Dynmaics in Formula D and other drifting events

I travel to the events and talk to people about tires, answer questions, and help Falken out with whatever. I try and give deals to drivers/participants on tires/wheels

I met members from Driftmechaniks at the Drift showoff in Maryland last july..........when I took over the program

this year DTC is going to be more involved in Drfiting :D

detail to come!

I believe that is a factor

Since Falken is responsible for our car (transport...... etc) and they have a lot more experience in motorsport promotion we defer to them on scheduling.......

Formula D is a more established series with TV coverage...better business sense..........

the Drifting community needs be smarter in schedules and the # of series out there or the same thing that happened to import drags will happen to drifting....... too many events and it becaomes tooo diluted too fast

That makes total sense. Formula D will most likely have all the kinks worked out as well - since they've run a season. But the TV coverage is the hotness!

I hear that. I'm afraid it's almost inevitable. Americans are always so quick to overkill on the "new big craze". In either case... the hardcore headz won't lose sight of what's up.
:)

On a side note... I thought New Jersey was going to be the FOERST stop for FD this year. That schedule is always seeming to change, lol.

It's at Road Atlanta again as far as I've been told by Slipstream.
Hahaha... choose drifting!
