They had that car on Top Gear once. For a German vs Britain drag race. Its geared really high and is designed for top speed/aerodynamics, hence no mirrors either. I'd assume the wheel covers help against wheel turbulence.

I would rather see a blank cover than some split spoke printed one, it looks so cheesy.
