I think the speedo is out because we unplugged the ABS module. It would go into limp mode before that too.

Seems logical that since the ABS works in conjunction with the speed sensor, that they could all be tied together... i.e. if you have working ABS your speed sensor must be functioning properly... so perhaps removing the speed sensor would do the trick?

On the same hand, Ive never seen a BMW (just stock, of course) go into limp mode because an ABS sensor went out... Which would be the same scenario as what youre dealing with.

I plugged the ABS module back in yesterday, and drove the car around a good bit. It seems to be driving fine. I'm going to try and pull that rear sensor today and see how that fairs.

AND go for EMISSIONS.

That's right.
EMISSSSIONS!!!

K... so I got the new toy installed. It is SIIIIICKKKKKK.

No go on emissions today because it started raining. I'm showing cords on both tyres, so it will have to wait 'til tomorrow... along with the speed sensor test.

Stupid rain.

dude.. be careful with the emissions thing.. if the car completes the drive cycle and something doesn't jive.. it could set the CEL back on.

you have can i think max two systems 'NOT READY' and still get a valid OBD-II test.

Andy: If it fails, I'm still looking for a "new guy" to replace the "old guy", and I haven't forgotten you. You (and your brother) are FOERST in line.

10-4 Geners, and you too Pittsers. I want to drive it some more tomorrow before I try and emissify it. My scanner will give me a green when it is all the way passable... so I'm holding out a li'l longer.

I took the car out tonight up and down my skreet. Hella fast... car drives like a champ, not a chump. Fucking drives so good. I'm really happy right now.

THANKKKKK YOU MFOERST for your mastery of automotive technology and overall radness.

I still need to try the wheel speed sensor removal tomorrow and see how that goes, so I can possibly use my MAXXX brake.

In the meantime... here is the new toy I got for her. A 'peace offering' of sorts so she will quit being bitchy, and I will quit being mad, hahaha. I got all the wiring finished, and the yellow lenses back on. It looks dick. They are hella bright. I still need to get in and replace the passenger side HID ballast and ignitor... but that will be for another day.

This is just a sneak peek... see the real deal on Saturday.
