fuck pro drifting. keep it real son.

also, i don't give a shit what gender anyone in racing is. what i don't like is armchair racers/drifters who talk about how good they are and how they are going pro and all that crap and don't do shit. if you're going to drift, just go out and fucking drift.

mikespeed95 wrote:i just wish girls were another driver.

i understnad it a little. but i just want another comrade to compete against if you know what i mean.

it also bothers me how they can say someone sucks at driving but the moment someone says "you suck at driving and you arent skinny" on the itnernet they hold onto it for years on end.

its really bothersome to me how some people are.

i sometimes wish i wasnt that good so i could say "you suck" to people without fear of reprocussion from them thinking im being cereal when im just jokingly talking smack. but im afraid to say that to any female racer or even say anything adviceful in fear they will take it as "oh you mean i suck because im a girl"

thats so annoying.

verena is really cool when shes not on camera. hiromi is a driver i look up to even if she had a penis. danica is really cool. lea anne was cool she just wanted to race and have fun, and she still is cool. but theres so many females that have to emphasize the female thing and be "pro" or talk about "im a pro drifter and im a girl" or "were starting a team and gonna go pro"

why cant they just be another person wanting to have fun and enjoy automobiles?

i dont understand.

this girl seems like she might be cool.

it also bothers me how males look at females as peices of meat so much sometimes. thats kinda degrading.
Don't forget Milka Duno, she's cool too.

I find it funny that sometimes women is perpertrate the stereotype that they aren't as good a driver as men.

Take the SCCA for example. There are ladies sub classes for every class. Women can compete in the "Open" class or Ladies if they choose, but men can't compete in the Ladies class.

It's been brought up many times that maybe the ladies classes should be eliminated b/c in every other motorsport, women are treated the same but its soon raised up how women aren't as competitive in the open classes (but so are many men). And before you ask, YES, women have won the open classes before.

motorsports is "new" to women.. by new i mean that there is more women competing at higher levels than there ever has been, there is always going to be the guys who look down upon them or feel as though they aren't as good as the men but eventually that won't matter.. I really feel that racing is the only level playing field in any Professional level sport because in any other professional sport the women have to compete with the women.. WNBA, Golf, Soccer, etc all have their own leagues and aren't given as much credit as men in most cases..

I get upset when guys post things like they did in this thread for the very reason that they haven't seen her drive and are all mad because she's a girl and is sponsored by a major company in the industry. yeah there's girls that shouldn't be sponsored... yeah there's guys that shouldn't be and many others that should be but that's the way it goes.. Of course I would love to see any women get into a big sponsorship and drive and be successful. I'm a girl yes but if something isn't fair I'll tell ya, I just people (guys) to understand that some girls do do it for the love of cars and racing.. Not all of us are "look at me! look at me!" wannabe import models :D

historically, motorsports has been a male dominated business and when many companies bring in a woman or promote a woman in motorsports..
many times it's simply a marketing ploy to get more exposure, attention, and ultimately revenue from the predominantly male fan-base.

it seems that some of these decisions are less weighed on true abilities to perform on a competitive level as opposed to bringing in a male driver which is more heavily weighed on ability.

before anyone gets irrational and angry at what i have just written, realize this not only limited to women in motorsports.. this also involves celebrities and stars getting involved for marketing purposes as opposed to competitive driving aspirations.

now that i've stated the problem.. what are the possible solutions?

Quit hating and being critical. To each their own. Let them (guy, girl, celebrity, stars, moms, dads, whoever) drive. If there good, then more power to them. If they suck, then they deal with all the shit talking that people will do. Their problem, not yours. I hate threads like this.

i hope that you did not perceive my comment as being 'hating or critical'..
it was merely an observation.

I'm not saying women shouldn't be equal. If I were to jump into my friend and his wifes E-stock Miata, I'm can almost guarantee you that my friends wife would run faster time than me. Most women drivers (in terms of motorsports) are smoother drivers. What they usually lack is the inherent aggression, but many of them learn it as they go.

hehe. yes.. that is definitely a solution. i guess what's frustrating is that many other talented drivers are not making it into racing while others are making it in with relative ease because of marketability. i'm interested to see how she's going to perform this year. i'm sure there still is a steep learning curve going from rallying to drifting. but it's far easier to speculate about things as opposed to waiting... human nature.

man.. this is what i have heard as well... and many times you can see it in the Ladies classes in SCCA.

tis sad about the aggression factor tho..

my only concern was that a relative nobody got sponsored by a large company when somebody that already has a forumla d, d1, or nopi license, in my opinion, should have.
2 examples:
justin pawlak
colin frost

it now comes to my attention that the person has a manager who is also the team manager for http://www.teamallstars.com(martymartymarty.net might get his wish). this person has been to a total of 3 drift events and has already wrecked their car and has no money to fix it. this person's manager said on drifting.com
Lisa is bring lots of media attention to the sport, that in turn brings more sponsership to drifting for everyone and everyone wins
Leon
which only proves the main reason why this person got sponsored.

there i left sex out of it.
also i have no shame in reporting that i get my arse handed to me everytime i autocross by that esl miata. she is a great driver. in fact the trscca has at least 3 women that are way faster than me and are very cool about it.

if she had a license already none of us would have a problem with it. but they gave a sponsorship to some one who does not have a license to run the series they are sponsored to run.
