Red Bull Drifting World Championships = FD's version of the world "all stars" that D1 does.

16 drifers from:
MSC (japan) + DMCC (Canada) + Drift Australia + some Malaysian and singaporean drivers + ProDrift (ireland) + I think EDC (europe)

vs

Top 16 from Formula D

Red Bull is the title sponsor. I think there might be a big TV deal integrated with it as well. But other than that, this is pretty much just going to be a big fat FD event @ the port of Long Beach.
