drifting "IS" a crime!?

popular rumors have it that drifting is to, now, be considered a felony offense...is this true? if so what the hell? if not, please, somebody bring me down cus i'm loosin' it man!!!

wtf... hahaha yeah congress is really concern about drifting and they are going to pass a bill. I think its bs.

Nope, still a misdemeanor(sp?). And in fact, illegal on private property some how. I think this law unconstitutional. If it's illegal for a car to slide sideways on private property then it's illegal for people to slide around on ATVs and I don't see any of them being hauled off to jail. It really is BS and I for one believe it can be fought. You do however have to have permission from the property owners.

You are correct, but laying drag is a misdemeanor. I was reading a printout of the Ga. state code last night and thats what it said. As dumb as it sounds.

"Laying a drag" as I understand it is usually ticketed for when the car is sitting still and the tires are spinning. I've gotten a ticket for this before and was surprised that "laying a drag" is the actual police term for it. Anyway, I'm sure a cop would not have a hard time convincing himself that donuts and drifting lean more towards the "reckless driving" category. But I doubt that's a felony either.

A friend of mine was recently arrested for drifting tandems in an abandoned parking lot. He's on the forum from time to time... so I'll let him elaborate more if he'd like...

Let just say the last thing the cop told him was "You see that "drifting is not a crime" sticker? You can go ahead and take that off your car, because it is!"... then he slammed to car door of the policecar.
