your opinion on track wheels, please.

Post by jo »

Ok well maybe not track wheels, because i'll probably put the new ones on and then use my stockies as track wheels, provided they are nice. I wanted to get something to mount my extra tires on to bring to events and such... I want something relatively cheap, but I also don't want something that will break.

My choices are the rota SDR's in black which i can get for 475 shipped to my door. They are cheap wheels that look nice-- but will they hold up? Or to go with the awesome work emotion cr kai's in gunmetal and hate myself for spending so much money because i probably can't get them very cheap. They are strong, pretty wheels, but damn i don't want to get raped on the jdm price.

What do you think?

I vote for the Rota's. It's a lot easier and cheaper to replace a damaged Rota. But if money doesn't matter I would get the Works.

yea, that might be the way to go since they are so much cheaper.
i'm still kinda in the same boat and need to figure something out in the next couple of weeks so i can have them by the ass drift nationals and maybe HIN (kinda leaning back towards the 5zigen idea since they are like $800-$900 compared to over $2k for the works, but then i have to pick hyperblack or bronze).

Looks like I found the best of both worlds! Rota makes a rip off of the emotions....they don't look nearly as good, but it might work:)

well i'm being lazy but here's a shot of each on a kouki fronted car which is what mine will eventually look like. i love the bronze on this black one, however everytime i see seigo's car at the driftshowoff events, it really makes me like the hyperblack even more (which i'm actually sorta leaning towards, although i don't know if it would look quite as good on a black car as it does his blue/silver). let me know what you guys think thogh, and keep in mind i have to rock out plenty of vinyl (yes i know i'm a ricer :) ), so gotta make sure it can be easily matched (which would also be easier with hyperblack, but i could find some bronze if i looked hard enough).

I see no option for pink spray-painted stockers.
What's wrong, loosing your nerve? Pink wheels are where it's at. I'd do it, but then I'd just be jackin' your style.

There is no way in hell that I'm painting the stock wheels! They are over 700 bucks a piece! I would get another set of wheels and paint them-- but, I still have to buy another set of wheels:P I can buy the rotas and powder coat 'em pink. But regardless, i still gotta buy more wheels so that leaves me back where I started.

I think the torques have taken it though. I'll have to talk to dan about powdercoating because they don't make the torques in the color i'd want anyways [black], so i may just go sti pink anyhow.
