All you have to do with those 1G DSMs is open up the exhaust and turn up the boost (with a fishtank boost controller of course) and they're sooo fast. I'm still not wholy convinced that my new car could outrun my old one, but I guess I could always find the buyer who lives in Cumming and race him to find out. Of course the car is running with a small 16G now that I sold him brand new with the car. But who cares, it doesn't have extruded fenders. HA!
I used to have a 1g DSM. It was more of a POS than the Prelude! I had it for about 3 months and during those three months the Timing Belt Tensioner broke three times and with each brake it bent valves We (me and my dad) had it rebuilt the FOERST two times, but when it blew the third time we called it quits and ended up giving it to the mechanic for a couple hundred bucks.
Never again will I own a DSM. not even a MR!
haha...no no no. I just do a lot of driving. I put over 25k miles on the 240 within a 5 month span.
The DSM on the other hand.....I was only 18 at the time, so I drove the shit out of it!
DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors which is a project started by a partnership between Chrysler and Mitsubishi to build certain cars in America (ie Talon,Eclipse,Laser). These cars are built in the midwest and classified as DSM.
Evolutions and FTOs are built in Japan by MMC (Mitsubishi Motors Corp)
Therefore the latter cars are NOT DSM.
The confusion lies in the fact that both sets of cars use the venerable 4G63 engine. The difference is that the DSMs use the EVO 1-3 4G63 which is mounted on the right side of engine bay. The Japanese built cars use the new 4G which is mounted on the left side of engine bay and uses all new internals for the block and new cylinder head as well.

That is a fast talon. Id kinda like to know more about the surpa it ran though. I mean "single supra" isnt very explanitory. I have seen a couple slow single supras all because the installation and tuning was sub par and the turbo was a SP57 or T61. I know some very fast ones that have been well built and even with a T61, look a lot faster than that one in that video. One here in atl has a T61 and has 660rwhp. He has one of the meanest curves I have ever seen on a dyno. Another I have seen made a little over 400 and there was definately something wrong there. Also big singles tend to squat when they spool hard and that one didnt really seem to. That has got to be one of the fastest DSMs I have ever seen but not at all the fastest supra. Good kill though.
