Re: Corolla discovery thread
I haven't updated in a few days because I've been busy fixing tons of things. Today I discovered what it's like to have a hood fly open. No harm done, it's clear this hood's gone through it before.

Re: Corolla discovery thread
The hood flew open BECAUSE it has hoodpins (that I forgot to put back on the night before). I've never been a fan of them and they are the main cause of hoods flying open.

Re: Corolla discovery thread
make a sticker and put it on your gauge cluster or somewhere you wont miss
Re: Corolla discovery thread
I like hoodpins as long as there is some sort of safety catch. Having a hood fly open has to be scary as hell.
Re: Corolla discovery thread
This reminds me of Patrick's hood flying on his old s13

No joke. Had this happen on the s13. Good thing the hood has a curve toward the windshield so I had a spot to look under while driving. Cracked the glass too.lol glad your ok Tony.

Awesome to see that you haz a GZE Cororraa!
I've lived the hood flying up dream before. The hood was ruined, but thankfully the civic had a tool kit with a 10mm wrench so I tossed it off the side of 985 and was only 5 minutes late to work

Re: Corolla discovery thread
So I stopped updating this thread because the collection of pics and missing broken things was just too much.
This weekend me, Koopa, and Byron went to the East10drift event at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville and had a blast. My Coroalla was much better than the FOERST event, it's actually super fun to drift now. I removed the rear sway bar and turned the shocks way down and it's like a different car, IT RIPS!
FOERST run out an exhaust hanger broke, fixed that up with some wire, and later on I had tons of problems with overheating because the fans kept flaking out. I actually boiled the car over twice because both the relay and the temperature probe had intermittent problems so I bypassed them.
On the drive up there I suggested the standard 10 over the limit. That was a bad idea because the fuel light came on in 150 miles... the supercharger was engaged even cruising on level ground at 80mph and I got 17.x MPG (less considering the speedo/odo is fast). On the drive back we set a limit of 75mph and the supercharger was only on going up some hills and the MPG doubled to 34.8!!
More about the event elsewhere.
