Anyone have any experience with Eurasian Mtrsprts in Duluth?

Post by charlie »

I'm considering dropping my car off with them tomorrow (I found them by the big Subaru WRC banner they have out front) to have my up/downpipes installed and was just curious if anyone has had any work done there. They've never done an uppipe install before. I wish SOG would do it but they won't install parts not purchased with them, which is understandable.

And this doesn't really deserve it's own topic but I'd like to get some opinions. My DP is 3". My catback is 3", but necks down to 2.5" over the last three inches. Should I get those couple inches cut out and replaced with 3" pipe or should I just let it go and have a small speedbump in the middle of my system. One shop has told me that the performance difference would be negligible. So whaddya think???

Woah wait... SOG won't install parts you didn't buy there? Are you sure? After the fiasco with my coilover set up, Scott said I should have had them do it-- which leads me to believe that they would have put in something I didn't buy there. Maybe not though.

I would call and talk to Porter or Scott about it-- they might be able to do it. Wish I would have known, we just got back from dinner with Porter.

I really don't see why you would let someone who has never done the instsall before, do it for you! You might as well do it yourself. You could always ask Dan up at BG to do it. It may take a few days to get in, but it would be worth having someone who has done it before take care of it.

I would take it to somebody that has done an up-pipe before. I would check out http://www.airbornemotorsports.com. I've never used them personally but they do have experience with Subarus. I believe they are located in Stone Mountain.

We met two guys that work at airborne last night! They were really cool. I'd definitely give them a call!

SOG has installed parts for me that I did not buy from them. So double check with them. Eric and airborne motorsports is a great guy and he can definately help you out. Never used anyone else so I can't say.

About the 2.5 exhaust. Don't worry about it tapering. It is not a big deal and you will not see a hp increase even if you did open it up. All the prodrive packages use 2.5 all the way back.

Thank you guys for the replies! I'm meeting Eric and Patrick @ Airborne FOERST thing in the morning. I had no idea they existed and they're just down the road from Decatur where I live. So going down the list...

1) They've done the install before.

2) They seem to know Subies very well.

3. They're 10-15$ an hour cheaper than everybody else!

Can I getta AMEN?

Hopefully this is the last time I have to pay anybody to install something. I can install most everything else planned myself but after seeing the car up on a lift yesterday and how tight everything was crammed in there, f that!

and thank you for the insight on question #2 Dan. I think I finally might be able to get some sleep tonight. :D

Charlie,
The smartest thing you can do is start getting close to the guys in the subaru community. They often have install days and such. We all try to help each other out and its a fairly tight knit community.

John @ Twisted Tuning has been a Master Tech @ Ed Voyles Subaru for years and has finally gone full time with Twisted Tuning. Not only is he one of my best friends but he is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable mechanics I know of.
