Stock S-14 help please

Post by s13driftertb »

This is my wifes daily, the 14 won't always start, turn over. I've changed out the battery, the battery wire termanls, cleaned the ground, and changed the starter. but every now and then you put in the key turn it and it just clicks.

any thoughts? is there some sort of relay that could be going out?

Thanks.

check the cap and rotor. if thats not it it may be your fuel pump.

cap and roter are fine, so is fuel pump. When it turns over it catchs with no problem. It's just that sometimes when you put the key in a turn it nothing happens.

I checked with my neighbor and he seems to think the starter was wound to tight when they made it or remanufactured it.

I'm with Patrick on this one. I'd say bad ground somewhere. I'd try tracing all of the wiring as best as you can with a volt meter.

i'm thinking starter or motor has a bad ground. also make sure the new connectors are tight around the terminals.

FYI....

I forgot to come back to this... It turned out the new starter was wound too tight when they rebuilt it. I left it a lone and in a week maybe 10 days it was fine and no problems since.

Hmm...I had problems like this for a while too. It was a bad ground to my battery.
