Tow Hook Toys: Fashion Faux Pas?

Post by Frank Bourbon »

I know that several of you guys sport toys and trinkets and such from your tow hooks... I've seen a few threads dedicated to the subject on the 240 forums, though most of those I thought looked pretty stupid, but I attributed that to the fact that it was a) The 240 Forums and b) my seemingly apparent lack of "Drift Fashion" sense.

While on my lunch break last week, I managed to take this picture:

I happen to be rather partial to the Corolla, but then I saw the crib mobile and threw up a little bit in my mouth. (That may have just been a coincidence, I couldn't say for sure...)

Although I think it got slightly ruined by a million fanboys hanging something from the towhook of all their vehicles, I still plan on hanging a small piston from the hook of the next rx7 I build.

I always considered it more of an homage to japan and silliness; something that should never be taken too seriously, kinda like the sport.

I saw a Honda Civic the other day with one.

I quit rocking them when I upgraded my tow-hooks. They became so incredibly rampant that they lost their novelty IMHO. I'm pretty sure the origin (non-U.S.) was to show how stupidly awesome low your car was... not stuck on a bone-stock 240 sky-jacking to the moon.

i think not having them because too many people have them is just as bad as having them because other do.

that's kinda my pants on car style in general, though.

it's really really hard to be completely different, so i just try do whatever works for me.
